Ten Things You Could Be Doing On Culebra Today Instead of Working

Do you need a break? Are you drowning in your work?

Well, to help entice you to take a vacation I thought that I would list out ten things that you could be doing today on Culebra, instead of working.

1 – You could take a casual walk to Dewey town and have an extended lunch.

2 – For $2.00 you could take a publico to Flamenco Beach, which is consistently rated as one of the top five beaches in the world. (And we have “undiscovered” beaches that are even better than Flamenco.)

3 – You could rent a jeep and get lost for the sake of getting lost.

4 – You could enjoy a romantic sunset at Melones Beach.

5 – You could take a swim at Zoni Beach.

6 – You could snorkel at Carlos Rosario Beach.

7 – You could learn how to scuba dive.

8 – You could take a water taxi Culebrita.

9 – You could go kayaking over to Luis Pena.

10 – You could make a sandcastle on Brava Beach.

BONUS – Best of all…you could be doing NOTHING!

Zoni Beach Culebra, Puerto Rico Video

Zoni Beach here on Culebra Island, Puerto Rico is an amazing place to spend the day. There’s a couple of nice sea grape trees that offer shade if you head off down to the right. Or, if you go to the left you can walk for at least a half-mile and have the place to yourself.

During the right time of the year, Zoni Beach is a sea turtle nesting site. And if you make all the way down to the end of Zoni you might even encounter some rock art or figures made out of coconuts and driftwood.

Flamenco Beach Culebra, Puerto Rico Video

Went down to Flamenco Beach the other morning and grabbed a quick video! Can you believe Playa Flamenco is ranked in the top five beaches in the world and in the video there is not a sole anywhere to be seen…

Also, if you would like to experience any one of Culebra’s amazing beaches, the Palmetto Guesthouse is currently offering 10% off on stays of three nights or longer.

Lonely Planet Puerto Rico and Culebra

We have some guests staying with us and they have the new version of the Lonely Planet Puerto Rico (and Culebra) Guidebook. The old edition was really out of date having last been edited in 2002, which means the research was most likely done in 2000/2001.

Lonely Planet Puerto Rico & Culebra

If you are curious, here is what Lonely Planet had to say about the Palmetto Guesthouse:

Setup in Barriada Clark, this new business is a super friendly and accommodating escape run by two ex-Peace Corps volunteers from New England. Five guestrooms have the run of two kitchens, a deck, a handy book exchange, and a sporty magazine pile. Situated not far from the airport, it is possible to walk to most of Dewey’s restaurants from here, as well as idyllic Flamenco Beach.

Looking forward to seeing you on Culebra!

Culebra on CNN

No, not really, but I was reading the hurricane Gustav news on CNN over the weekend and thought I would see what the latest news about Culebra was on the internet.

The most recent story to be found was on Weekend American called, Getting Back to the Mainland. It’s the story about one man’s efforts to get off of Culebra and make his connecting flight in San Juan.

Of course, if you are looking for the latest local news we do have the Culebra Calendar Online, which is a terrific source of local information. Let’s just hope we keep dodging those hurricanes so CNN won’t have any cause to come to Culebra!
