Harry,

Glad that I could bring back some memories for you of the base on Culebra. Our vacation was a lot of fun and Big Blue was the highlight. Also check out my youtube page http://www.youtube.com/LordVaader

Nathan, I just viewed the video of Culebra that you did. I was 1 of four enlisted men that was stationed on Culebra in 1963. Watching the part of the video that showed the Observation posts took me back 46 years. The view that you had looking out at the bay was the exact same view that I saw every morning for 8 months. The helo pad is the same pad that I crashed in a helicopter while coming back from liberty in San Juan. No one was injured. The cross winds made us crash from about fifty feet up. It hasn't changed a bit. I also ran a vehicle down a ditch while coming back from town one night. One of the buildings that you saw was also our barracks that we slept in. The other building was where our generators were housed that gave us our electricity. All of the buildings were painted red and yellow so that the jets that bombed the island would not drop one on us. Thanks again for the memories. I have some original photos of the buildings when they were in operation if you would like to see them.
