The travel section of the Boston Globe prominently featured Culebra (and the Palmetto Guesthouse) on its front page story today, “Seeking Sun & Savings.”
Author Patricia Borns writes:
“For heat on the cheap, we scoured the warm zone for destinations with great packages, or lodging options under $130 a night, and recent round-trip airfares from Boston under $450. Then we applied our rating system: high scores for barefoot simplicity, debits for resort crowds. And the winners are . . .”
If you want to escape the cold northeast and checkout Culebra’s fine beaches like Flamenco, Brava, and Zoni then give us a call at the Palmetto Guesthouse.
Our little island has always been a low-key paradise and hotels on Culebra are not much different.
Most people come to Culebra for the beach, nature, and to escape the hustle and stress of their everyday lives.
Culebra hotel accommodations tend to be located in neighborhoods (where you will most certainly hear dogs barking, roosters crowing, and children playing) and are of the guesthouse, INN, and B&B variety.
We will pick you up and drop you off when you arrive, provide amazing complimentary coffee in the mornings, and include everything you’ll need for the beach (snorkel gear, beach towels & chairs, and even coolers).
Since I am going on vacation soon, I that thought it would only make sense to give you some pictures of Culebra’s beaches that might get you to finally take that vacation you have been dreaming of.

Many times we have had people email us here at the Palmetto Guesthouse asking where they can get fresh local fruits and vegetables on Culebra. The two main grocery stores, Milka and Myra, do a pretty good job of stocking produce.
However if you happen to be on Culebra on a Friday you should make an effort to get to the “fruit and veggie guy.”
He sets up a tent on the corner directly across from Carlos Jeep Rental. Their fruits and vegetables, while not wholly organic, many come from farms on Puerto Rico.
Melissa and Vince came to Culebra and spent one evening at the Palmetto Guesthouse.
Shortly after checking in, Vince asked about special places for a memorable proposal. He found the right spot the next morning on Flamenco beach when he proposed & Melissa accepted!
Although they’d talked over the subject of marriage, Melissa had “no idea” that Vince planned to ask her to be his wife during their Puerto Rican holiday. He did, however, do a great job of picking out just the right ring to fit Melissa’s taste and they two now look forward to a happy life together.
If you are looking to plan a special occasion here on Culebra; a wedding, suprise birthday, engagement, or just a relaxing escape then give us a call at the Palmetto Guesthouse and we can help you sort out all of the details.
Steve and Honey are entrepreneurs (check out The Science Place) from Atlanta and after two years without a vacation they decided they should come to Culebra and Puerto Rico for some R&R.
Honey’s first impression of Culebra, after a chicken or three had darted in front of the car; “Now where did he (he being Steve) take me this time.” However, from then on things improved drastically! In fact, Steve said, ”We came for the beaches and have gotten so much more.”They literally had Culebrita Island all to themselves and referred to it as “paradisiacal.” When asked to describe Culebra in three words to someone who has not visited they chose:
1. Friendly people
2. Fabulous beaches
3. Serendipity
On their way to the airport they assured us that they would definitely be back!
If you are in need of some rest, relaxation and beach time then please give us a call at the Palmetto Guesthouse.
If it’s cold, snowy, and miserable where you are, Nathan and Becky Smit were in Culebra recently (staying at the Palmetto Guesthouse) and they shot this fantastic video.
During the course of the seven minute video Nathan has captured video and photos from Flamenco Beach, Resaca Beach, Zoni Beach, Carlos Rosario Beach, and Tamarindo…really great stuff!
